About this Blog

When our beloved cat Smeagol passed away in 2012, at the grand old age of twenty, we buried his ashes under a tree, an Acer palmatum ‘Kinran’. Known for its glorious autumn colours, the Japanese name for this acer means "Woven With Gold Strings” a perfect description of its ever changing colours and a perfect title for this blog!

Whilst we were deliberating if another cat could ever replace Smeagol, a stray cat started paying visits to our garden. He took to sleeping under Smeagol’s acer by the back door and when he finally decided to come into our house, he took to sleeping on his blanket too!

Strider is now part of our daily life and has been for the past thirteen years. I have always been lucky to have the company of these curious independent creatures and I can’t imagine life without a cat.
