You spin me round

Another pop quiz question; name the band and the connection the singer has with Port Sunlight? My siblings will know the answer, so any other takers?

Last night Sarah sent me a text to say she could see a new moon over Cirencester but I couldn’t see it here. As I stood in the middle of the road, looking for the moon at 10 o’clock in the fading light, both adult swallows started flying around me. They were at my eye level. I couldn’t keep my eyes off them and got a little dizzy. My cat watched the whole performance. I don’t know what any of my neighbours thought of me if they were watching... they probably couldn’t see the swallows because of the light, just me spinning round in the middle of the road.

Today
I removed the four stones, brown paper and green tray. After breakfast I had a brief visit from one adult and two juveniles. One in, two in, three in. One out, two out, three out.

Now they have finished building the nest, they just need to line it with some good insulation... what better than some feathers! All that is left to do now, is wait.

A box without hinges, key or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

While we stand watching her
Staring like gabies,
Safe in each egg are the
Bird’s little babies.
from Nest Eggs, Robert Louis Stevenson

  1. This has been so well documented and beautifully written, I actually feel a tad emotional! I have 'personally' witnessed the very first appearance of one then two swallows, the trials and errors of home-making through to the arrival of their family and finally the beginnings of their young ones journeys .... I've been truly captivated Dave! Thank you. xx

  3. I've been ITCHING (not literally!) to write the answer!!! And it is - DEAD OR ALIVE .. Pete Burns!! In fact I found it on google just to hear him sing it again!
Can't believe that he and his girlfriend then ( later his wife!), used to cut my hair in The Ginnel during his hairdresser days!
I also used to get the train to Liverpool with Pete most mornings, going to work.
My claim to fame eh! 😉xx
