Say hello, wave goodbye

There’s no crying in the rain or Pink Flamingo nightclub!.. but we are sad to have left Holker although very happy to be settling in Allithwaite. We enjoyed our time there and will miss our neighbours but we are happy to be in our own house once again... we’re not tenants anymore and we are not landlords anymore.... just Mr & Mrs living in our own house!

Holker will be en route on some of our local walks so we can call in on Fred & Doris and let them know how Strider is getting on... something Doris will be pleased to hear about.

When we left Scotland we hired a removal company to drive our stuff the two hundred odd miles from Pittenweem to Holker, but this time we did it ourselves as Allithwaite is only two miles away. We made endless trips in the car with boxes and bits & pieces before hiring a self drive van to move our furniture. If you ever have to do a house move yourself then just remember these two things... tail lift and sack truck!... especially when there’s a washing machine to shift!

One thing we will miss about Holker is the lovely windows. Painters & decorators don’t like them but they do look good. They were very good at letting in plenty of draughts and releasing most of the heat from the room! Lets hope our new lovely wooden sash windows are less efficient at doing that!!

Strider, Holker October 2013, just before his big move!
